Planking through the trimesters (and postpartum)! The plank is a staple core exercise in many workout programs and classes. But is it safe during pregnancy and postpartum? The answer: To a certain extent. The amount of pressure the plank position puts on your abdominal wall is NOT good for your core or pelvic floor at a certain point during pregnancy which could lead to greater abdominal separation. I cringe when I see some 2nd and 3rd trimester mamas doing planks 😣 Let’s chat through modifications for each trimester and postpartum! . . NOTE: These modifications are only safe if NO coning/doming in the abdomen is present . . Swipe ⏩ through for pictures to go along with each: 1st Trimester: Planks are typically perfectly safe at this point! 2nd Trimester: Planks should be modified as soon as your belly starts to show. Use an incline for front and side planks. 3rd Trimester: Planks should be avoided all together. There are some GREAT quadruped core exercises (I have a past post on this). Postpartum: The postpartum body should be first treated exactly the same as a 3rd trimester body. Work backwards until your core strength is ready for a full plank As always, ensure you have your doctor’s permission to exercise! Happy planking 💃🏻

I will randomly pick winners Wednesday night! I filmed this workout a few weeks ago in the White Mountains of Arizona which is where my husband is from. I totally forgot about the workout until I was scrolling on my phone looking for a picture and stumbled upon it again. It's perfect for the fall weather too if you want to do it outside or use a stair banister inside. You just need 1 to 2 long bands! You guys know I swear by bands as they are a great addition with weights or on their own and this workout shows that too! Mine are all from @thexbands use code delishfit for 10% off. For the workout do 4 rounds. Res will vary based on the band resistance (shoot for 10-15) but you want the last three reps to be very challenging! Also, be aware you can make the resistance more or less depending on where you hold the band or how much slack is between your feet. Happy Monday! What better week to figure out daily habits that need to be altered, started, or ended to instill lasting change for the remainder of 2020 and going into 2021. Change is hard work and there isn't a one-size-fits-all approach to lasting change. BUT the similarity in all of us is that we have the ability to say YES, I'm going to make a change and stay CONSISTENT to better my life and what I project into society. So what habits are you going to commit to adding to your daily routine? My plan is to add in hot lemon water first thing in the morning to get my system going, reduce my caffeine intake on a daily basis to only 1 cup of tea and preworkout, and to finally make a commitment to a program that will help me follow my passions and dedicate at least an hour each day to fulfilling that dream. Love this bra...the nip slips not so much 😅 . Honestly... This is a random pic that was taken by my phone that, a year ago, I would have deleted immediately. I would have focused on the bad angles, the double chin, ...I mean come ON...I was fixing my boob for crying out loud. . Now all I think when I see this picture is how funny it is because that bra is a pain in the ASS to take pictures with. (It still doesn’t fit just yet!) It makes me giggle & maybe you’ll giggle too. 😅 . I knew when I joined my coach’s challenge group waaaaaay back when that, physically, I would see changes if I put the time in. I rarely MISS a Monday, but I often forget to post on Mondays! . I have always been someone who needs to get up and workout on Monday to start my week out right. If I don’t, it often leads to lots of rest days that week 💤 . I also need my Monday morning workout for my stress relief for the day. For whatever reason, Mondays seem so CRAZY busy for me during this pandemic. So even though I have good intentions to post, I often forget, and the day is over before I know it. . But, today has been much more CHILL because I took a vacation day! If I don’t use them, I will just lose them so I’ve spent the day as only full time MOM instead of both full time employee and full time mom 😂 . Have you used your vacation time this year?! .

You'll know what to do next. 🖤 Don't QUIT--pull the throttle back a little instead- maybe its a big goal, maybe its your health and fitness journey, maybe your job... You cannot make a decision without taking a full inventory+inspection to see what the actual problem is FIRST. 🖤Declutter-- just like our house.. we need to declutter our life and sometimes we forget to do that each season... See where your time is going, where your energy is going.. and align it to YOUR vision of your life. **Hint: this includes decluttering others opinions and thoughts** 🖤Alone is a LIE-- these hard seasons make us feel more alone than ever... BUT... that strictly comes from how taboo it is to admit we're struggling.. including to ourselves. It simply starts with-- "Hey girl, Im in a season of not being "ok"-- want to link arms and climb out of this ditch together?" Believe it or not... theres a lot of us struggling out there who need YOU to brave the path and take that first step. 🖤 Its OK to not be ok... but DO NOT stay there too long. You have everything you need to take that next step. You dont need all the answers. Speed does not matter, forward is forward.  Full disclosure, I still struggle to complete a mile under 14 minutes.  Yes, I’m a cross fitter, but I still do a modified version of most exercises.  But the deal is I show up EVERYDAY and keep trying to get better because consistency not perfection get results.    Commit to yourself with all your heart. 🤗🤗  Forget the scale…for now.  I get a little irritated when people ask me how long it look to lose 70lbs. 🙈😁 Focus on building sustainable healthy habits, and the rest will definitely follow. TRACK YOUR MACROS, this is soo important.  I’ve been at this for 3 years since my youngest was born and in the first year, I had no clue what I was doing.  For one, it took me a full 12 months postpartum to be in the right headspace to commit to this lifestyle.  Secondly, I didn’t know what I was doing so it was hella frustrating.  But lots of trials and error, here we are 3 years later and 70lbs less.  Do it for you!! 💋❤. @NikkyActive ⁠. . . . . . .
