Approach every day with enthusiasm. Set goals a night before, pre plan in advance. I certainly did and made the most of a gloomy day. From 60mins of morning yoga, mid day 5K run self learnt a new pose “Eka Pada Vasisthasana” in cool down, managed to strength train by the end of the day as well as kept all my work commitments- all this despite waking up slightly under the weather! 🤧 At the end of the day I feel happy, light and contented and now can go to bed at peace. ✨🛌🐶♥️ . . . . . . . . . . .

Asana breakdown: Triangle Pose (Trikonasana) What for: Triangle pose is a wonderful stretching pose for the leg muscles and side body. It stimulates the inner organs and opens the chest and shoulders. How to: Starting in a standing position with your feet a bit wider than a leg's length apart, turn one foot out at a 90° angle, aligning the toes and heel with the center of your back foot. Keep both legs straight but maintain a micro-bend in the front knee and externally rotate the thigh to avoid locking the knee joint. Raise both arms in T position and elongate your front arm forward as if you wanted to grab something in front of you. Both sides of the torso should remain equally long in this motion. Once you reach the maximum elongation, bend to the side from the hip crease (avoid crunching from the waist) and let your front hand rest gently on your shin or on a block placed next to your leg (never directly on the knee). Your other arm reaches up to the sky in a straight line with the lower arm. In this full expression of the pose your feet, pelvis, torso and arms should be in one plane. Gaze up to your hand or just look straight ahead to a point in front of you. Modifications: Some teachers like to give students the cue to imagine standing between two glass walls in order to emphasize the straight plane of the pose, specifically that both hip bones should be facing forward instead of being tilted towards the ground. I prefer instructing my students to practice Triangle Pose against a wall to make it easier for them to maintain the proper alignment and open the chest without the fear of falling backwards. If your legs and hips are not flexible enough, resist the tendency to tilt the pelvis and push your buttocks out so you can reach your hand lower. Simply stay higher with your torso until your muscles are sufficiently stretched with continued practice. The feet distance is also a critical factor for proper alignment in Trikonasana. Most people's stance width tends to be too short, so if that's the case for you try placing your feet a little wider apart before you bend sidewards from the hip.

So the leg day that never was. Had planned on doing a beautiful leg day today but it will have to wait til tomorrow. Why. Hamstrings. They we still tight from the deadlifts the other day and my god did they not want to join in. Tried to do a squat and they were like nah not happening 😂 ⁣ ⁣ It’s made me realise how much I don’t stretch and how much I should. In all I spent a good 40 mins today stretching out my legs - something I know some people do everyday! - that defo couldn’t be me, no time for that. Buttttttt I will be trying to make more effort to get on this stretching game, mainly to avoid days like today where my legs were too painful to workout. ⁣ ⁣ So the workout turned into an ab circuit split up with periods of stretching. James Rowland, our English Osteopath is demonstrating some simple, yet highly effective stretches that can be used after walking, or after sitting down at a desk for a long period of time. • Why stretch? • Stretching is important for maintaining or increasing range of motion of our joints and preventing injury. • Including stretching in your daily routine is just as important to health and body functioning as regular exercise. It relaxes your muscles and increases blood flow and nutrients to your cartilage and muscles. ~ Quad stretch. • Begin in a standing upright position holding onto a stable surface for support. ~ Movement • Bend one knee upward and grasp your foot, pulling it toward your body and pushing your hips forward until you feel a stretch in the front of your thigh and hold. ~ Tip • Make sure to keep your back straight and maintain your balance during the stretch. • Hold for 30 seconds and repeat 3 times ~ ~ Calf stretch ~ Movement • Begin in a standing upright position in front of a wall. ~ Tip • Place your hands on the wall and extend one leg straight backward, bending your front leg, until you feel a stretch in the calf of your back leg and hold. • Hold for 30 seconds and repeat 3 times ~ Hamstring Stretch • Begin standing in a long, open, and flat area. ~ Movement • Extend one leg forward, propping your heel on the ground, and hinge at your hips until you feel a stretch in the back of your leg. Hold briefly, then press your foot flat to the ground and squat down on your back leg. Last few weeks i have been missing out on post Workout stretching and mobility due to shortage of time in my Workout. That negligence caused me unwanted pains at specific spots. Its really important not to miss out on releasing your tight muscles before you leave the gym. Here's a quick lower body stretching regimen you can easily follow: 1) Begin with a Cossack stretch(adductors) . Shift your weight to one side and let the other side's adductors stretch. Then change. 2) Hip Flexor stretch : By putting one hand over your head you'll be able to go deep into the stretch. Further you can rotate that arm internally to stretch the QL 3) Quad Stretch : From the hip flexor stretch position, grab the leg behind and pull it towards yourself. 4) Pegion stretch - Release your Gluteus medius, magnus and TFL by this simple stretch. Try and keep the bottom leg at 90° knee flexion. 5) Final stretch is again for releasing Hip abductor muscles and also latissimus Dorsi. Hold each stretch for 10-15 seconds and repeat 3 times.

Have you stretched today? . Many of y’all have the same answers when I ask that question. Some say ‘no’ , others say ‘yes’ , and some others say ‘I don’t have the time to stretch’. To which I call their b.s 🥱 . Oh you most definitely have the time. You’re not making your time resourceful. Admit it. Don’t blame it on your schedule, your kids, your space, nothing. . I have a suggestion that could work for you. If you’re Netflix and chillen, scrolling through social media, take time to lay on the floor and simply bring your knees to chest. Hold yourself for just a minute and breathe. This is easy and great for low back tension. . If you’re cooking, bring yourself to the floor, hands and knees in a table top position and simply round and arch your back for a minute while the rice is boiling or before you make your smoothie. . Squat low to the ground, feet hips width distance apart, bring your hands to your knees and twist your torso alternating sides using your shoulders . These are just a few things I do to release tension and bring me back to body and out of mind . .

Reading through my yoga once again ready for my next course! So excited 🙏💜🙌 managed to sequence my own routine involving alot of leg stretches from a challenging run yesterday but managed a 4km run in 23 minutes BEATING my estimated time!
