| TRANFORMATION ⁠ ⁠ @mcarrion5⁠ ⁠ "I came across an old picture today on my Facebook and it made me really appreciate “the process”. These pictures are about 6 years apart. ⁠ ⁠ Growing up, I was always called skinny and it would always upset me (yes, being called skinny can come off as derogatory).⁠ ⁠ I started CrossFit 5 years ago thanks to my brother and I couldn’t be more thankful.⁠ ⁠ Crossfit and an amalgamation of life experiences have taught me very valuable lessons in life. No matter what your goals and dreams are do not let anybody or anything hinder you from achieving them.⁠ ⁠ I never had anything specific I wanted to achieve in CrossFit like going to the games, but I’ve been able to do things I never thought I’d be able to do.⁠ ⁠ To me it was and still is all about being as healthy as possible and to increase longevity.⁠ ⁠ Nothing was given and everything has always been earned. People always ask me how I do “x,y, and z” and I tell them honestly “I’m not doing anything anyone else can’t do.” I put the work in everyday I can, even on days I don’t want to.⁠ ⁠ Genetics isn’t waking up at 5am everyday to fit my training in before school and work. Just do the math. • • I still have to meet the woman who doesn’t have a story about sexual harassment. Wheter it happened at work, on the streets, when going out or within the ‘safety’ of their own homes. • • So yes. I believe women. I stand with women. • • These numbers are always presented from the victims perspective. Surprisingly enough; behind every woman that was raped or has experienced sexual harassment: there was a man. So to all men out there: in stead of coming to me saying ‘not all men...’ (and with that disclaiming our experiences) you better speak up and hold yourself, your friends, brothers, sons and fathers accountable. This week so far has just been hard. Yesterday morning I woke up horribly fatigued.. i have dealt with low iron for years i am guessing that's what's causing it. It randomly hit me like a ton of a bricks. Felt a bit better today but definitely not 100 percent hopefully tomorrow will be better. Also my sinuses have been awful. When this stuff happens I really just feel like giving up but I just cant do that.. i will never better myself. 💙 .

My house is a mess most of the time (see dirty mirror selfie for reference... and this is on a good day), and my kids have too much screen time right now. I'm terrible at prioritizing sometimes, because I have anxiety over things that I have no control over.⁣ ⁣ But I have made the choice to prioritize my health, both mental and physical. I want to be around for my kids for a long time. I want to be strong and resilient, so I can run and chase them at the park and throw them in the air in the pool.⁣ ⁣ I sometimes put training before dishes, and I make nutritious meals before writing content or watching Netflix. Because when I take the time to train and nourish my body, it sets the tone. The training carries over into my other responsibilities. Eating well fuels my workouts, but it fuels my life too.⁣ ⁣ Prioritizing isn't easy right now. We have kids at home, we might not have access to a gym, it's difficult to get to the grocery store, we're working from home... it's too much. You can't do everything.⁣ ⁣ Find the tricks and be easy on yourself.⁣ ⁣ 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀. Have you ever had this happen before? You set a new goal.  You are so excited to get started!  You tell yourself tomorrow is the day!  Three months later and that goal you had is just an afterthought of what could have been. Trust me, you are not alone. This happens so often to so many people. Then you go out and hire a trainer, nutritionist, or health coach thinking this will be your saving grace because....they told you the same thing you have heard a million times from the health and fitness industry, "Good thing you are working with me, because I am going to hold you accountable every day!" Accountability from others is a great concept, except at some point in our lives we must learn how to hold ourselves accountable. We cannot go through life depending on others just so we can reach our goals. A trainer, nutritionist, or health coach should be teaching their way out of your life so you will learn how to workout, eat right, and stay motivated. Yes, that is right.  A health professional should not be a part of your life forever! Their job is to teach you what you do not know, and SHOULD be showing you how to become self motivated. Here are 5 tricks to help you become more self motivated: 1) Start small.  Set a goal that you can accomplish in less than a week.  Not every goal you have needs to be earth shattering. 2) Surround yourself with other self motivators.  There is nothing more inspiring than someone who seems to be able to take control of their day without a push from others. 3) Learn something new every day.  Expanding your thought process daily will help you see your "bigger picture". 4) Stop thinking so much.  A perfect plan does not exist.  Just take action, regardless of how big or small that might be. 5) Help others.  Self motivation does not happen overnight.  Not for you and not for others as well.  Help one another become more self motivated. Remember, self motivation and holding ourselves accountable are learned traits from building better habits.  Stop depending on others to reach your full potential.  Take control today!

I want to post this for monday motivation! I am leaving for vacation in two weeks and thought I want to try on this bathing suit and look back on this picture, and see how much I’ve grown physically since I’ve started this journey. Same bathing suit, different mindset, better mindset for my health, muscle gain, and fat loss. Looking at these pictures side to side, makes me want to keep going towards my goals and to keep amazing myself every damn day. YOU can do it. It took me finding someone who does this for themselves and more, to make me want to do it too. How to get ready to take the next steps in your life? 👣 . I'm posting this for all of us, including myself. I hope it will help and push us forward 💪 . 1️⃣ Stop Making Excuses . Excuses are what hold you back, and they are almost always the only thing between you and your goal. Identify the excuses you make, and figure out a way to prevent making those excuses. Come up with ways to force yourself to make changes. It is not going to be easy, it is going to be really hard, but you will conquer your first major roadblock on the road to accomplishing your goals. . 2️⃣ Set Goals . It’s tempting to set big goals, but to start making sustainable progress, it is better to begin with manageable goals. Starting small is how you create a habit. . 3️⃣ Create A Routine . A routine consists entirely of discipline. Disciplined people carve out time to get it done, no matter what their goal may be, they take a spare moment for it. You make time for things you care about. If this is a goal you want to achieve you will find the time for it. . 4️⃣ Hold Yourself Accountable .   Saying your goals out loud makes them real, so tell someone you trust your goals and how you plan to achieve them. They will inquire about your progress and you will have to tell them. Having someone to check in is like having a coach. It means you are serious about your goals and it holds you accountable. . 5️⃣ Track Your Progress . Write down what you have done. Write it down so you know how you are doing. Not only does it help keep you on track, but it helps remind you that you are doing it. You are taking real steps to accomplish your goals, one day at a time. Write it down! . 6️⃣ Failure Is Integral To Success . Life happens. There are busy weeks, that will prevent you from completing your routine. It does not matter if you fail for one week or month. What matters is you get back on track every time. Keep going! . 7️⃣ Exercise . At least take a walk and clear your head. Take care of yourself so you can be your best self every day 🥰 . Meal prep Monday! Ft. My dirty stove top 😂 My nutrition is the area I struggle the most with. I am such a snacker. And I don’t typically reach for the healthiest options. I want something that’s quick and easy to grab. That’s where meal planning comes in! This week I’m making it a priority to plan all of my meals and snacks out for the week. And I don’t mean just writing everything down like I’ve been doing, because that’s just not working out for me. Instead I’m preparing everything the night before and I’m using my portion control containers to make sure I’m eating exactly what my body needs! Everything is set up for me to be able to just grab and go through out the day!

Happy Monday friends ! New week, new goals, fresh start 👏🏻 How many times will you fall off the wagon ? Not sure and it doesn’t matter . I have had a few ladies ( including myself over these 2 years) that have fallen off the wagon. That doesn’t matter, life happens & sometimes things become over whelming . The main part is we all picked ourselves back up, dusted ourselves off and jumped right back on. The goal is to just do better then yesterday, now when you put it like that, it’s less pressure . If someone said you that perfection is what your striving for you would give up. We aren’t perfect In any aspect . Its important to see that it’s about progress. No matter how little or big. Day 9- Triplet Doubles. Something that I want to start focusing on is my sound. I’ve never really spent time on it as my main concern has always been how my hands look when arguably the sound they’re producing is more important. I’ve always heard don’t play the stickings play the rhythms so that’s what I tried to do with this 4-2-1 gallop kind of exercise. I want the doubles to sound as even as possible so that if I were to close my eyes I would just hear triplets. Balanced hands. I tried this with two different approaches; one as relaxed as possible and the other using as much velocity as possible. Reps at 120, 140, 160, 180. Take aways- I’ll edit this tomorrow but for right now biggest thing I can see is my LH is not rebounding to the same height as my RH so that’s a factor in sound discrepancies. Overall I like the relaxed approach more but I want both notes of the doubles to rebound to the same height like they do when using more velocity.

I really wanted to do the treadmill today but I figured with work tomorrow and I know my legs and feet will hurt so bad after I work that it wasn't the best idea so I did a little bit of weights just so I actually did something. I was drinking most days, using drugs most days I was drinking. Put all that away, re focused on my work, got serious about getting healthy, and almost immediately started reaping the benefits. Pulling up to my house from my early morning bike ride kinda hit me today. I didn’t know life could get this good, and I’m not done yet.

Day 8-Add an accent. This exercise focuses on probably my biggest struggle. Downstrokes. It’s always been an issue for me and working on getting my taps down is always one of the first things on my mind when approaching something. I included reps at 100bpm, 120 bpm, and 140bpm. I also included the downstroke primer that I used when working at each tempo. I normally did it repeating each hand 4 times and also included double stops but shortened it for the video. Today was a bittersweet day. Reminisced a lot on my experience last summer with @genesisdbctx and how much fun I had. Hoping we all can return to the field soon in a safe and fun environment. Take aways- worst pattern is the bucks. Really need to work on stroke types at even slower tempos to really understand at how to achieve the downstroke without squeezing and still being able to immediately rebound with an upstroke. Lots of wiggle room at the low end. The stick doesn’t quite stop at tap and rebounds (“wiggles”) above it. I can hear when my LH is not playing in the center. Really need to work on bead placement and matching angles. Bucks really harsh sounding at 140 (poundy). Need to solidify the 2nd pattern better with stroke types. On downstroke primer eliminate wiggle room without squeezing. Downstrokes are louder than rest of accents. Side note I’ve been having a lot of fun practicing recently. I don’t remember the last time I had this much fun drumming on my own. These late night sessions where I am having a good time and making progress makes me want to keep drumming for hours even though I should probably go to bed haha.
