I had 30 mins to workout today. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A few years ago, I just wouldn’t have bothered. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I needed to do an hour or more fitting in EVERY single exercise I wanted to do... and if not it was all pointless. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👆🏻Really, really dumb👆🏻 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “But Sam, you’re still pretty dumb now!” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Correct, but what’s changed is I workout more consistently even when things ain’t ideal (which is often). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Limited time, no gym, no equipment... doesn’t really matter. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I look at what I CAN do rather than getting frustrated at what I can’t, and I’m much happier with how my training fits into my sometimes hectic life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Because when it comes to seeing progress, consistency wins over intensity every time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today’s workout: 33 sets- 5 pull ups (strict), 5 press ups, 5 squats- Bodyweight Challenge day 19 complete ✅ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Pizza anyone? 🍉🍕 I picked up a massive 20 pound watermelon for just $4.96 at Walmart the other day, and I could have fed a small army! We decided to get creative and make a very healthy spin off of North America's favorite food. Did you know that both melons and berries have some of the the lowest sugar and carb content in fruit? They are even approved in small doses by those crazy keto people! 😄 Watermelon in particular comes in at only 30 cals, 8 grams of carbs and 6 grams of sugar for 100G (a little under a cup). As for berries, here is the nutritional breakdown per 100G: Blueberries: 57cals, 10g sugar, 14g carbs. Raspberries: 53cal, 4.4g sugar, 12g carbs. Strawberries: 33cal, 4.9g sugar, 8g carbs. Raspberries take the cake for highest fiber content, coming in at a whopping 7g/serving. That's almost 30% of your daily requirement, not too shabby! And who ever said strawberries are too high in sugar?! They are most certainly NOT. Fruit is your friend people, particularly these nutritionally dense types. This cheerful little bowl of fruit and healthy fat was how I broke my fast this morning. Yup! I'm still doing intermittent fasting, and still loving it! (More on that experience on the blog - link in profile)⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ The biggest takeaway so far has been to remain flexible. If I want to have a late dinner with a friend, I do it and simply shift my "fed" period later the following day. If I wake up starving, I assume my body knows more than my brain does and I eat! 🤪⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ In my experience, flexibility is the key to consistency. That may sound like an oxymoron, but it makes sense when you think about a healthy lifestyle as a whole. Just as you're not unhealthy because you ate a brownie (or two) after lunch, you're not *not* doing IF because you decided to go and live your life and have dinner at 8. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ One day at a time, my friends. One day at a time.⁠⠀ .⁠⠀ .⁠⠀ .⁠⠀ .⁠⠀ .⁠⠀

Cravings. This word has a negative connotation to it. Many people try to resist their cravings and as a result feel deprived and unsatisfied with their diet. ⁣ ⁣ Cravings are actually our body’s way of telling us what it needs. Do THIS daily to help with hormonal balance⁣ 👇 ⁣ ...poop 💩 Yup, it's getting a little personal over here! I talked about this on IG stories a few days ago, but got so many questions that i decided to turn it into a post! . Pooping daily is SO important for hormonal balance, and it's one of the best indicators of how happy and healthy you are.⁣ ⁣ For many of us, stress, a not-so-healthy diet, and not drinking enough water daily has made constipation the new 'normal', which ain't good sister, and I'll tell ya why!⁣ ⁣ When you're constipated or not pooping daily, your hormones (particularly estrogen) go back into circulation instead of being excreted. Not only is that bad for hormonal balance, but the re-circulated hormones are more toxic! 🙅🏼‍♀️You HAVE to be pooping daily in order to get estrogen out!⁣ ⁣ What happens if you're constipated and your hormones (particularly estrogen) get recirculated?⁣ -acne⁣ -headaches⁣ -PMS⁣ -frequent and/or heavy periods⁣ -hot flashes⁣ ⁣ Some tips to keep ya regular:⁣ 🏋🏼‍♀️get regular exercise⁣ 💦drink more water - at LEAST 1/2 your body weight in ounces⁣ 🧘🏼‍♀️relax while you eat - no scrolling through IG, running around your home between bites, etc. ⁣ 🥑increase your fiber intake - aim for 7-9 servings of veggies a day to get your fiber in!⁣ ⁣ Need more help with hormonal balance, fat loss, & increased energy? I had big plans for today but.... I woke up with a nasty cold. So you’ll find me here on this couch, listening to my body, trusting the call the slow down. Every physical symptom we experience is a message from our body to listen. We are given these “symptoms” - not to run from or medicate per say, but to seek to understand a deeper meaning. After spending most of the past week dealing with deep emotions, I felt my body matching the emotions. The sore throat from years of suppressing my voice and my truths. This cough, signifying the repressed anger and feelings that are trying to be released. The aches and pains of having to hold onto these emotions for so long.... When you allow yourself to “detox” emotions, don’t be surprised if there’s a physical response as well. Our mind, body, and soul are all connected. Is your body trying to tell you something in regards to your physical symptoms? Tune into your heart and ask, “what is the emotion tied to this symptom I’m feeling?” This is a powerful and effective way to start understanding the language of your body. Love y’all, Lindsay

Be careful if you go to the lake this summer!⠀ .⠀ This was the day I swallowed some water and got a terrible parasitic infection in my gut!⠀ .⠀ A really fun time learning how to wake board for the first time... but this lake had parasites - Giardia and Cryptosporidium (usually found in lakes, rivers and streams).⠀ .⠀ It took a lot of time and a LOT of kimchi to heal my microbiome!⠀ .⠀ So if you DO accidentally swallow some water... make sure to eat kimchi so the priobiotics can help fight off that infection!

I love being outside (except this weekend. It’s going to be 100 degrees. No way). I have sensitive skin so I’m careful about covering up when I’m out in the sun. I’ve mostly just relied on the standard sunscreen/hat/beach umbrella scenario but I’ve recently learned that there’s a lot more you can do to not only protect your skin from the sun but also prevent and repair sun damage. Last thing on your mind is your workout. But, don’t worry. I’ve got you covered with my newest movement challenge. The best part, no equipment or gym needed! AND IT’S FREE. This is a brand new challenge I’ve never done before so I need your help. I’m looking for 10-15 people who want to have fun this summer and stay on track with their health and fitness goals. This 6 week challenge that starts July 22nd. How it works: You will download the Fitomize app and track how long you move each day. How you move is completely up to you. If you have a pool then track how long you swam. Keep track how long you went for a walk, a bike ride or even just played at the park with your kids. The key is to track your minutes of movement. If you don’t know what to do then you can choose from over 30 video workouts in the app to do. You can choose from mobility, to cardio to strength workouts. The options are endless. The reward? You earn badges for the amount of time you move.
