Recently I’ve been given a new opportunity to write a column for a local paper on health, fitness and lifestyle. I thought that was pretty neat and I’ll be sure to give you all the details so you can read along! - I was hashing out article ideas with my husband and the one I wanted to tackle was IG Influencer versus IG coach. Touchy subject for some, maybe!? 💁🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ - Neither one is better or worse, but as a consumer, you’re going to want to discern between the two, especially if you’re paying for a service. - I’m going to save the nitty gritty for my column but here is a little spoiler for you. A coach isn’t going to post a workout video and suggest that , if you do this, you can look like me. They know better. - Coaches will have thoughtful conversations with clients about their history, goals, nutrition and expectations with their program. You’ll have a plan for regular feedback and check-ins, and really, you’re the star of the show in the relationship. - Influencers are usually selling something more generic like a template. Nothing wrong with that at all, and if it keeps you motivated and gets you moving, I am all for it! But it often a lacks accountability and a personal touch. My experience is that what most people need is the accountability. The client/coach relationship is easily the most important thing. - I love to post workout videos to show clients that I am working hard in the gym, just like them. I like to give followers training ideas 💡 and motivate them with personal stories that touch on PR’s and setbacks. I’ll share what I am eating and why I eat it. But if you want to work with me or my team, we’re going to coach you, and it will be based on what YOU need, not what we’re doing. - I’ve been adding in some extra core work at the end of my lifting sessions. Every week I’ve increased the volume on my GHD sit-ups, by adding more reps or more weight. I do not suggest you hit loaded GHD sit-ups without carefully considered increases. You’ll notice I take these reps to just parallel too. The leg raises were killer, and the Copenhagen plank was new for me. The reason I have (somewhat) visible abs is because of my genetics and my nutrition. 🙌
