I struggle with lower back issues, so I really have to focus on my core and make sure to always engage it when lifting. Early morning shots 📷 - before the sun has even risen 😫⁣ ⁣ Can’t wait for this UK to start warming up again. The dark, cold mornings make getting in a gym session sooo toughg but it’s the discipline that does it (because god knows I am not going at 7pm after an 11 hour work day no wehy 😂). I find I’m way more on my sheet in the summer but that said, have been feeling quite good about my training recently. Leg day got me like....😩⁣ ⁣ Leg day has definitely become my least favourite body part to train, which I never thought I’d say... but tonight I tried to switch it up a bit and push myself as hard as I could by upping my weights and doing 6-8 reps. It really helped tbh It felt like I got a really good session in considering the gym was packed! ⁣ ⁣ It got to the point where my legs were giving way while trying to walk around the gym😂 that’s when you KNOW you’re gunna hurt the next day!

FEEL C O N F I D E N T IN YOUR SKIN 💫🦄 . One thing I’ve learned over the years: True confidence always comes from within. 🙏🏼 . You can be the most fit, “shredded” individual on the outside... but if the path you’re on internally is one that doesn’t fulfill you & make you happy, you’ll never be truly confident. . When I first began getting into fitness years ago, I saw incredible benefits both mentally & physically and I absolutely fell in love with it. . HOWEVER ⤵️ I was conflicted internally in other areas of life: ✖️ The career path I was on was not one I genuinely wanted (I originally went to school for public relations & french 😅) ✖️ I was still caving in to social pressures & going out drinking every weekend, putting my deepest goals on the back-burner 🙅🏼‍♀️ . In short, I was still lost internally & felt like I wasn’t FULLY living the life I truly want to live. And as a result, no matter how much ab definition I saw when I looked in the mirror...I wasn’t truly happy. . Fast-forward 5+ years, to the present: ✔️ I completely changed my original career path to pursue a career personal training & coaching full-time ✔️ I stopped going out drinking every weekend 🛑, and started living a healthy lifestyle to fuel my goals & make me FEEL good ✔️ I surrounded myself with positive, like-minded people who are equally as driven & passionate, and inspire me every day to become better 🙌🏼 And last but definitely not least... ✔️ I took the leap and launched my own Personal Training & Nutrition Coaching business,

Not sure if I’m used to the lower calories abit more now, or the fact I ate before I trained today or wearing @seanstrtblog comp tshirt gave me the strength but today’s pull session felt much better than last week and I upped the weights abit too. Those 40kg hip thrusts hurt and I’d forgot my bag so didn’t have a bar pad, hence the improv with the mat 🙈 Sorry for my lifting face 😂 - - - - -

Feeling my workout from today in my legs so much🙈I I started off with a 1k run and then my glute focused workout included : ⭐️squats ⭐️lunges ⭐️sumo deadlift ⭐️cable pull throughs . It doesn’t sound a lot but I like to focus on a few exercises and increase the intensity in those few. If I try do too many different types exercise I I tend to a) start to neglect form and b) I don’t push myself as much. But this is just a personal preference. Do what you enjoy and what works best for you. . . . . . . . .

How to have an effective leg day❗️ . So one thing I’ve made my goal in 2020 is to always push for progressive overload. Using the same weights for months on end is all well and good, but your muscles will get used to lifting that weight and they’ll become your ‘norm’, so you’ll stop seeing progress and muscle growth. Upping your weights to keep pushing you out your comfort zone is key to seeing results! 🔑 🍑 HIP THRUSTS: the most effective exercise to isolate and target your glutes; 🍑 SQUATS: these target your glutes and all your leg muscles and depending on how wide a stance you take can focus on different muscle groups. Box squats are also great for targeting the top of your hamstrings and right underneath your butt; 🍑 DEADLIFTS: these are a staple for a leg day, Romanian deadlifts focus more on your hamstrings whereas sumo squats focus more on your quads; 🍑 LUNGES: although mostly quad focused, they also incorporate glute and hamstrings due to needing a larger range of motion; 🍑ABDUCTOR: this is when you turn your thighs outwards, so works the outer parts of your legs as well as your glutes; . Although resistance band training is useful, I’d recommend this more for an activation or a cool down exercise as although resistance training can be useful, I find there’s only so much pressure you can put on yourself through a band without the use of an actual weight. 😰 . Hope these tips have been useful - I’ve been looking forward to a leg workout for weeeeks and I’m so glad I managed to make it a good one! 🍑 I also used my new barbell pad and they make such a difference with hip thrusts I can’t believe it! 😍 Also wearing @ryderwear animal instincts - use code KATYA10 when you shop! I nearly gave up during today’s session😢... - So I have been dealing with the worst girls problems the past few days (sorry tmi). I have never had it THIS bad, literally unable to sleep etc. You saw my stomach on my story a few days ago... - Yesterday I had off, just a light walk on the treadmill, no training or steps and just rested. Today I felt better. I thought get in, I can train! - Done cardio this morning fine. Went to train...3 sets in and start feeling uncomfortable...Not ideal. Frustrated but I carried on because I’m a stubborn shit, I just backed off my volume and intensity a bit, was it a wasted session? Absolutely not. - Girls don’t be afraid to adapt your training around your cycle, you won’t lose progress I promise! Adapting your training volume and nutrition around the luteal and follicular phases is something you can do if you suffer during your time of the month!
