Last night I went to a buffet tasting at Langley Golf & Banquet and this was the beautiful colourful plate I ended up with 🤗 I tried a few different salads (Pecan mandarin orange Caesar salad, spinach & watermelon salad, Shanghai slaw salad), the antipasta platter, house chow mein, rice pilaf, steamed veggies, roasted potatoes... probably a few more but I can’t remember 😂 Everything was delicious and I did manage to save some room for dessert too 😏 Also tried their mashed potato bar before our dinner and that was AMAZING too 😍 Definitely an amazing meal!! . Happy Friday!! I am so excited for the weekend 🙌🏻 Tonight ben and I are going to cook dinner & drink some wine, and tomorrow we are going on an off-roading day trip in the mountains 😃 We’re going to be on the road (well, the dirt) for close to 6-8 hours tomorrow, and the weather is supposed to be nice so I am excited for some beautiful mountains views 👌🏻 Hope you all have a lovely start to your weekend!! 💕

FITNESS JOURNEY If you follow me on social media you know that I am on a fitness journey, really a lifestyle journey. There are some good days and there are some bad days. This should’ve been posted earlier but I’ve been busy dealing with real estate and meeting with dad’s doctors and I’m still looking for an editor. This is a photo I took this morning in the gym after working out. I hired a new trainer three months ago. My old trainer was excellent, but I think he was tired of me complaining and I was tired of his responses. My mindset for this new trainer was I was not going to complain. I was not going to even videotape my workout with him. I was going to be committed to do the hard work, stay consistent, and hold myself accountable. We have a long way to go towards my ideal fitness goal but this photo makes me happy, celebrating the small accomplishments. I have dealt with weight issues my entire life. Learning to eat right has really helped me out. I still want that JJs chicken, fried chicken wings, shrimp, okra and fish. But I can’t ...

This cheerful little bowl of fruit and healthy fat was how I broke my fast this morning. Yup! I'm still doing intermittent fasting, and still loving it! (More on that experience on the blog - link in profile)⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ The biggest takeaway so far has been to remain flexible. If I want to have a late dinner with a friend, I do it and simply shift my "fed" period later the following day. If I wake up starving, I assume my body knows more than my brain does and I eat! 🤪⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ In my experience, flexibility is the key to consistency. That may sound like an oxymoron, but it makes sense when you think about a healthy lifestyle as a whole. Just as you're not unhealthy because you ate a brownie (or two) after lunch, you're not *not* doing IF because you decided to go and live your life and have dinner at 8. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ One day at a time, my friends. T r a n s f o r m a t i o n . . . Seven weeks postpartum compared to guess what...... seven weeks postpartum. 💪🏼 I weigh the same as I did last week, no quick fixes going on here. Yes I did feel a bit rubbish when I stood on the scales but like my husband reminded me, I need to not be so harsh on myself. Being new mum is hard, unless you have someone prepping your meals 24/7 then you’ll bound to just grab convenient food as and when you can. And let’s face it, when you’re sleep deprived ONLY chocolate will fix the situation! It’s a long progress so try not to be too disheartened 💛

I've got that Friday feeling⚡⁣ ⁣ This Friday is extra special for me because my dad is coming in town to hang out and meet his newest granddaughter. We are going to take him and the girls to see Lion King tonight and I think I am more excited then my 6 year old🙈. ⁣ ⁣ Fridays are fun and sometimes we forget to stay on track, especially with healthy eating and exercise. Don't let the weekend be your excuse to not eating healthy or exercising, because you control those thoughts. If you know you're going to have that pizza or some drinks, then make yourself work for it. You are responsible for your own actions! Here I go again sounding like my mother, but its true😉!!⁣ ⁣ Life is a balance and I plan on doing that this weekend. I will workout in the morning and then I'll probably have some drinks and a burger at the family reunion this weekend. I seriously cannot get enough of this 1SP salad from @choptsalad that even has a creamy dressing!! The Georgia Summer Cobb is perfect. I take out the blue cheese and sub tomatoes or jalapeño and use the creamy lemon herb dressing (1 serving for 0SP for 2 servings for 1SP) and it’s summer perfection!

Snacks were (and in a certainly way still are) a very scary thing for me since I can remember. Why would I eat between meals? I am never forced to snack... so why do it? Well you can come with tones of reasons like you must eat each 2-3 hours or is the only time where you can eat food that is not lunch or dinner food but is yummy... whatever the reason is that you come with to me... that doesn't make this specific meal less pointless in my eyes. And that may be why I was so scared to have this amazing Ham & Cheese toast since I saw it on the showcase of the coffee shop after lunch... and how embarrassed I was to have it... Lunch... if you saw my story you know that I "lost" a mini battle at lunch... let me explain... I exercised the whole morning and as so I was needing a proper lunch... I had it in a certain way... some rice and some meat... the problem lays in the fact that it wasn't enough... I was still hungry... and I should had listened to what my body wanted instead of waiting for "the next meal time"... maybe next time I will do better... Happily there are evils that come to the good and I think that the hunger I was feeling gave me the push I needed to go through my fear and embarrassment of eating this god damn snack that I was craving. Thanks for reading!

Another delicious salad to add to the books!! Today I made a romaine salad with a bunch of yummy toppings to make this a not so boring salad that you can pair with your protein and carb source. For this salad, I used romaine lettuce, boccocini sliced in quarters, sliced up strawberries, cucumbers, pumpkin seeds and hemp seeds for added micronutrients! I topped this salad with some balsamic fig dressing,m but you could add pretty much any salad dressing you’d like … A nice balsamic glaze, italian dressing, or even lemon poppyseed would pair well with this salad combination.

Let’s talk breakfast! Now I’m typically not a breakfast person. I don’t really care for breakfast foods and I’m never really hungry in the morning. This leaves me intermittent fasting most days, which if you haven’t heard, is great for your brain! When I do eat breakfast, sometimes I get lost on what I should be eating. This used to stress me out like crazy! How many of you feel the same?🙋🏻‍♀️ There are so many opinions out there on certain foods you should and shouldn’t be eating in the morning! So I think of it this way, the brain fuels off healthy fats and protein. So in the morning, when you are breaking your fast (breakfast) it’s important to stick in those categories. Loading up on sugar and carbs can leave you feeling sluggish (Fruits, breads..etc..). If this is what your breakfast consist of, that’s okay, just try implementing some good protein and healthy fats along with it! Now I know eggs and bacon get a bad rep too. So for me, I go off what my body tells me and I don’t eat them everyday. I also make sure my eggs are organic and my bacon is nitrate free. Reading the labels is so important! Most school days I just stick to an avocado and Trader Joe’s everything but the bagel seasoning. It’s quick and easy, leaving me a lot less stressed! FOLLOW 👉@weightlossideas_ for the best daily weightloss tips 💪⚡️ . . 👨🏽‍🏫This week I was chatting to one of my students and I asked ‘if I was looking to get into better shape what would you recommend I do?’ 🏃‍♀️The answer… focus on eating vegetables, a little bit of protein, do long distance running, do sit ups to get a flat stomach, do leg raises to ‘tone’ your legs and if you don’t see results after one week then change your plan and try something new 🆘This answer hit the nail on the head on where a lot of us can go wrong with trying to lose weight. A highly restrictive approach to nutrition, a cardio based approach to fat loss and a lack of patience when attempting to achieve results 💡A lot of the time when we decide to overhaul our lifestyle and approach a fat loss phase, our perception of how to achieve this can be very extreme 🛌Personally, I’ve spent time working on building habits into my lifestyle that are now routines. Some of these include: prioritising my sleep; eating more vegetables; taking pressure of myself to follow rigid workout routines and just working out when I can; walking more and including more foods that I like into my diet, moving away from an all or nothing approach 🦄What I’m saying is: you don’t need to smash CrossFit WOD’s or 5-Day Gym Splits to lose weight and look good. You just need to watch your calories, make better decisions, focus on being a better version of yourself than yesterday and increase your step count by walking more and including activities that you love to burn some extra cals ❤ via @whenharrymetsalad .

Happy Friday everyone! Question for you: how do you talk to yourself when it comes to food and your body? Would you let anyone else speak to you that way? Happy Friday👍 Gym day breakfast. 2 hard boiled eggs 154 calories,1 piece of WW whole wheat bread with avocado 55 calories and a few veggies for fibre. Total calories are about 250 for a yummi and filling breakfast that includes protein and fibre.
