Beautifully wise words from St. Therese, as she reminds us the importance of remaining grounded in the present moment. We don’t indulge regrets of the past, nor have anxieties and fear of the future. Helpful in a time of such uncertainty! I like the emphasis on living “simply” also. If there is a silver lining to this pandemic, I do feel it is a wonderful reminder of the little joys of life and reminding us of how little we truly need to have faith. St. Therese of Lisieux, pray for us!

My friend and I were just talking about how much we love St Therese Little Flower and called her our “big sister in heaven” not long after, another good friend of mine gave me this St Therese coin and it says “I am your sister, your friend, I shall always be watching over you... St Therese” .. . . . . .. . .

“If every flower wanted to be a rose, nature would lose her springtime beauty. The splendour of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not rob the little violet of its scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness.”—St Thérèse of Lisieux, the Little Flower. Lovely day for a rosary walk. The parking lot of St Therese lot has been active on Sundays around this time—I always run into one or two families stopping by, letting their kids play basketball, and a priest or two lingers to chat with us. The idea of scapular-themed face-masks might have come up while talking with our priest. I’m not sure if that would count as an actual scapular, but I’m for it & I will be getting one if this happens.

“What a joy to remember that she is our Mother! Since she loves us and knows our weakness, what have we to fear?” —St. Thérèse of Lisieux

Hey friends. We've all been called on to make extraordinary sacrifices during this time. A saint we can draw inspiration from during this time is St. Thérèse of Lisieux, who said, "Love proves itself by deeds, so how am I to show my love? Great deeds are forbidden me. The only way I can prove my love is by scattering flowers, and these flowers are every little sacrifice, every glance and word, and the doing of the least actions for love." Let's all remember these sacrifices we are making are being done out of love for our neighbors and offer them like flowers of love.

Today as I prayed and reflected on the Sorrowful mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary, I had this vision that came to mind. I could visibly see Jesus gently removing thorns from my body and said “I’m here” while He began to place the thorns on His head. It was a significant moment of great emotion and I felt closer to Jesus. The raw feeling of knowing He willingly suffered for us always stirs my heart with great sentiment. • • • May my will be rooted in your Divine Providence, amen.

“Hopefully I’ll get to go to Lisieux one day.” That’s pretty much what I said like just 2 weeks ago, and I can’t believe I’m actually here! Surreal but amazing attending Sunday Mass here in the Basilica of one of the Saints I hold dearest 😍🌹 Deo gratias! “When I die, I will send down a shower of roses from the heavens, I will spend my heaven by doing good on earth.” - St Thérèse de Lisieux St Thérèse, priez pour nous! 🙏🏼

Marie Thérèse Martin was born at Alençon, France on January 2, 1873, the youngest of five daughters. Her father, Louis, was a watchmaker, and her mother, Zelie, who died of breast cancer when Thérèse was four, was a lace maker. She was brought up in a model Christian home. While still a child she felt the attraction of the cloister, and at fifteen obtained permission to enter the Carmel of Lisieux. For the next nine years she lived a very ordinary religious life. There are no miracles, exploits or austerities recorded of her. She attained a very high degree of holiness by carrying out her ordinary daily duties with perfect fidelity, having a childlike confidence in God's providence and merciful love and being ready to be at the service of others at all times. She also had a great love of the Church and a zeal for the conversion of souls. She prayed especially for priests. She died of consumption on September 30, 1897, at the age of 24, and was canonized in 1925. She has never ceased to fulfill her promise: "I will pass my heaven in doing good on earth." Her interior life is known through her autobiography called Story of a Soul. Pope John Paul II declared her a Doctor of the Church in 1997.⠀ O God, who open your Kingdom to those who are humble and to little ones, lead us to follow trustingly in the little way of Saint Thérèse, so that through her intercession we may see your eternal glory revealed. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.⠀ ⠀ https://www.catholicculture.org/culture/liturgicalyear/calendar/day.cfm?date=2019-10-01⠀

Words from my friend @meganvxo for today’s feast: “While praying the rosary on a retreat a few days ago, the group finished the last decade in a beautiful Marian garden. In the middle stood a statue of Our Lady surrounded by hundreds of the most beautiful roses I had ever seen. Roses in all colors—shades of reds, pinks, yellows, purples, and whites. I wanted one of these roses so badly! I began to think of all the ways I could potentially acquire one. As I racked my brain, I realized the odds seemed unlikely as I didn’t have scissors and I didn’t want to steal one of the flowers without permission. I told the Lord about my desire and continued on with my retreat day. A few hours later, I again found myself in the garden. This time with a friend who was sharing her heart with me. We sat. We chatted. We prayed. Towards the end of our conversation, out walked a man with a pair of scissors in hand. I watched as he began picking a bouquet of flowers. As he passed by us, I complimented the beautiful garden to which he proudly shared that he was the gardener of. I told him the roses reminded me of my best Saint friend, Therese of Lisieux and that her feast day was coming up! Seeing the excitement in my voice, he proceeded to ask me if I’d like to bring home one of the flowers—to which I nearly toppled over as I exclaimed my resounding “yes”! When he asked me which one I’d like, I gazed around the garden and then back at him and asked if he would surprise me. He disappeared into the garden and moments later came back with a pale pink rose. I couldn’t deny it’s simple beauty but if we’re being honest, it probably wasn’t the one I would have chosen. I thanked the man and as he left, I lifted the flower to my nose and to my surprise it had the most fragrant and beautiful scent that I had ever experienced in a flower! So it is in our walk with the Lord. He sees us. He hears us. He knows the longings of our hearts. He answers us. At first it might not look like the exact answer or outcome we’re looking for but it is always exactly what we need when we need it and as with my little flower, we must seek the underlying beauty that at first glance might not meet the eye.”

| PRāYēR TīMē "For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy." St. ThéRèse of Lisieux -- I have a chair in a corner of a room that I sit in to read my Bible, pray and meditate on the greatness of God. -- And this little one joins me every time. Purring she brings her own prayers to the Father, she 'helps' to help read the liturgy of hours, and 'tries' to pray the rosary. -- Sometimes far more annoying than help, but always very cute! --
