Late night thoughts: You can’t buy your health....A recent micronutrient test diagnosis has literally been a lifesaver for me. After years of bad habits, there were still things going on in my body that I didn’t feel were right/normal, so I finally sucked it up and faced the truth about what was happening, and what I needed to replenish this vessel of mine. It was a tough reality check, but I went straight to my local health food store, and gym. Still a lot of room for improvement, but As I consistently starting to incorporate these nutrients and new daily habits into my life, I am so so thankful that I did. I’ve been mia lately (with this account and in general) because guess who got her super impacted wisdom teeth out 🤪 It’s been a week and a half since I had them removed and my mouth is still recovering. It’s been a really rough recovery and I’ve just been taking things easy. I’ve been to the gym once in the past two weeks but that’s okay! I’m not going to force myself to go, especially when I’m not feeling well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ • • • Since I haven’t been able to go to the gym, instead during the day I’ll try to up my general physical activity. It’s simple stuff like when I take a bathroom break, I’ll go to the bathroom that’s farther away from where I am. ***THIS IS NOT A WEIGHT LOSS STORY. PLEASE READ FULLY*** . @archana_santhosh joined us earlier this year and we have never met someone so dedicated or strong willed. She'd been on a diet of 1100-1200 calories for 3 years and had already lost 30 kilos. However she'd hit a plateau and was constantly sore and tired. She physically couldn't not push any harder. To her credit she had never cheated despite all this. But she was getting frustrated. . When she came to us, she had already signed up with another nutritionist and had a few months left on that plan. . But like a lot of nutrition plans we see, 1200 seems to be a calorie value that people love to randomly, mass-apply to all women. . While there is nothing wrong with that number and it is true that nobody can break the laws of thermodynamics, it is also true that spending extended periods on low calories can lead to some severe metabolic adaptations(all of which are recoverable, your metabolism is NOT broken). . So when on a diet, remember to periodically and slowly raise your calories back to maintenance. . This is not for everyone, because it needs more meticulous tracking than the diet itself. . But when done right it can help restore strength, reduce stress, improve performance and get you ready for a better cut in the future. . When we started Archana on this plan, we very clearly set her expectations up by telling her not to expect anything but maintenance. We will make sure no weight is gained, past that, we know nothing. Recomposition is great and in this case, it did happen. But that's absolutely not the point of a diet break. . PS: Not even 1/2 a kg was lost here. So in case you're obsessively checking the scale, here is a reminder about how little it can actually show you! . After 20 minutes of attempts on my handstands. (Since I’ve officially mastered the assistance from the wall) I laid these bad boys to rest for the day before I end up hurting myself, or driving myself crazy. (See video for madness kicking in) • • • I started this page to help people that I know (or don’t) get motivated, while I started back. But mainly, I started it for myself, a personal blog. One that will allow me to look back and see how far I’ve come— whether that be 2 months or 2 years from now. Posting videos of my failures is just as important to me as the killer workouts that work for me. It gives me a reason to look back and amaze myself on how I couldn’t do things so easily.
