Vegan chickn pizza with mushrooms and garlic from @sticksandstonesclayoven 🤩 . . Guys, this was SO good, I couldn’t stop eating it 👏 it’s all about BALANCE 🙌 I eat mostly whole foods but I allow some wiggle room for things like pizza...because, pizza 😍 here’s the thing, if you eat some pizza, or fries, or ice cream, you’re not going to gain weight and you’re not going to become unhealthy from one meal. Moderation and balance is so important, not just with dieting, but when it comes to virtually anything . . I had a period of time where I struggled with eating. Girls in the media, magazines, on social media, are typically stick-thin. Society tries to determine what the standard of beauty is. And although I was not overweight in the slightest, I felt that it wasn’t enough. I restricted my calories to a dangerously low number, under 1,300 calories. Then I’d end up binging at night, eating half a box of cereal at once and feeling like crap about it. Because I wasn’t balancing my diet, I was restricting - it was always about what I COULDN’T eat, and always pushing myself to burn even more calories at the gym. And my body was simply deprived . . Girls and guys, that’s no way to live. Your body needs fuel and if you deprive it, your body will need to make up the extra calories and you’ll probably end up binging like I did, or worse in the ER! I’m here to say EAT THE PIZZA GIRL. because it won’t make you fat. You’re beautiful and you deserve a treat. And the rest of the time, focus on WHOLE foods. Now I eat without counting calories, I listen to my body and feed it as many beautiful plant-based foods as I can. I get down and dirty at the gym and I don’t worry if it makes my body “thicker” because it’s muscle and it’s beautiful! . . Don’t count the calories, count the nutrients. Much love! ❤️

Here’s a way easy meal that is in our regular rotation...sweet potato and black bean quesadillas on whole wheat tortillas. First cut your sweet potatoes into small cubes, drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and smoked paprika. Roast at 375 degrees for about 15 minutes or until golden and crispy. To assemble, lightly butter both tortillas, fill with cheese (we like pepper jack) top with black beans, sweet potatoes, and cilantro. Cook on skillet until crispy on the outside and cheese is melted.

It has been SO LONG since I’ve grabbed for my blender and made a morning smoothie! Honestly, the last time I can remember doing it was when I was newly postpartum 😂 I used Dole frozen mixed berries with kale and 1/2 cup of Silk Oat Yeah Plain Oat Milk (3 SP). It's crazy how food can bring people together, make memories and spread joy. These past few weeks, I've been missing my mom's cooking, "gulai ketam and pajeri nenas" and my dad's "kerabu with kerisik". I miss how we as a family, my parents and siblings and their families would sit down for lunch altogether and we'd spend hours talking at the dinner table. 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 . And in the past few days, I've also been remembering my family (in-laws) in Riyadh. Decided to make waraq al-enab (stuffed grape leaves) for Mohammed, reminding him of home. Last time I made it for him was when we were still living in Riyadh, right before our move to the U.S. 🍲 .

What to do after binging @bodysmartfitness I wanted to talk about the emotional eating cycle because I think that a lot of people can identify with this. Including myself. The feeling of losing control..hopelessness..stress.. guilt..failure..disappointment.. lack of self esteem..I can go on. And the sense of escape/ detachment when eating. This can become a dangerous cycle and before you know it you are caught in that continuous loop. An addiction. Here’s one of my LEG DAY plans 🏋🏽‍♀️🏆 . generally when i do a legs day i include cardio explosiveness/power and exercises that’ll target every leg muscle because i la la looove getting sore the next day . < < < T R E A D M I L > > > - 9 minute jog - 8 minute of 30 second sprint, 30 second rest (fastest you can go whiteout stopping) - 9 minute jog - 4 minute walk . < < < E X E R C I S E S > > > . 5x15 weighted squats 5x10 lunges each leg 3x20 semi bent deadlifts with DB 2 min wall sit with plates 5x15 DB hamstring lifts 3x15 single leg extensions assisted dips machine 3x15 full sets of cable SLD squat dropset (lean forwards - drop squat) 3x20 triangle squat pulses with band 3x20 squat jump over bosu 3x15 burpee high jump over box 2x(30 seconds alternating rope slams and 30 seconds double arm rope slams) 3x20 jumping lunges 2x12 pistol squats on floor or 2x7 on DB (per leg) 4x15 leg press 6-10 sled pushes 5x12 leg springs each leg . workouts like these could either be smooth sailing or death, depending on how you approach it. go hard and get wrecked. . oh n have fun walking tomorrow💯 .

Sort of my take on a cucumber caprese salad. I’m adding this over spring mix greens for lunch this week. Another salad perfect for the season. Ingredients: -Grape tomatoes sliced in half -1 cucumber diced -1/4 large red onion diced -1/4 mozzarella log diced -2 tsps extra Virgin olive oil -1 tsp minced garlic -Seasoned to taste with a pinch of pink salt, herbs de Provence, and sage.
