Manual Therapy and Assisted Movement 🤙. @deancourtney_ had some upper back and neck issues from training hard🏋🏼‍♂️. Our treatment session was individual and specific to him as is all our treatments 🙌. In his case we did some grade 5 manipulation of the thoracic spine with assisted cervical rotation and flexion / extension with some upper trap trigger point release too 🤘🏻. We gave Dean a specific rehab programme for home and yeah we don’t just give out some printed sheets and send you away 🙏. We take you through your rehab exercises and make sure you do them right 👌. You have the option of performing the exercises on video and we’ll send it to your mobile or email for you to do at home or the gym 🆒🆕🆓.

Don’t stop loading your body just because something hurts! I’ve been dealing with some setbacks and my back has been a little grumpy. Easy fix for me, transition to the trap bar and keep loading my upper back and thighs. Total “rest” makes sense at face value but isn’t an evidence supported approach. If you have pain, try and find a way to stay active while the healing process occurs. Your body will thank you!

Sometimes the best workouts are not the prettiest or most visually exciting. Today’s strength and conditioning was packed with movements to hit all areas of the body. First clip was a Pyramid finisher consisting of deadball throws followed by drop sets of pulls. Clip2 is a wicked kettlebell flow that fully engages the core. I got this gem from @tmacsinc . They are short, sweet and to the point whilst challenging yourself to push through 10-20 minutes of intense overload. While they are certainly not for the faint of heart, they definitely can be part of a great training program as they not only develop the anaerobic system, but also have aerobic benefits as well. They burn a ton of calories, preserve muscle mass, and can be done anywhere anytime. Generally, I like a work:rest ratio of either 1:1 or 1:0.5 (really extreme, but gets the job done). What ratio someone uses strongly depends on their time, goals, and fitness level. I highly suggest a ratio of 1:2 or more for beginners to allow for ample rest and play with the ratios as they see fit to their fitness level and progress. Do you like HIIT workouts? See keto forums aplenty for ‘proof’. - - The above sounds great. I’m just getting my butter and coconut oil ready... oh hello (Mr Evidence-Based Science and Ms Common Sense have just turned up at my door... They say that a calorie deficit, eating less, moving more, being educated and drinking actual coffee is most efficient for sustained fat loss. P.s. They also said that they won’t charge anything for their advice 😉. - - Here are two options for fat loss - 1: Consume 480 calorie coffee’s for breakfast whilst not eating anything and avoiding any carbohydrates across all meals. Or 2: Drink normal coffee and eat normal breakfasts whilst controlling overall calorie intake via foods you enjoy. The latter looks more appealing to me. Which one would you choose? - - Im not anti-keto - it’s a free world. This post covers a small element of the Keto trend... But if you are considering any type of ‘keto’ strategy for fat loss I would advise you to do some research first (and not from Keto websites). Of course you can lose fat on a keto diet, but only in a calorie deficit... So therefore it probably makes sense to stick with your existing diet, include adequate nutrients, and create that sustainable calorie deficit. - - If you would enjoy the ketogenic diet, go for it. Why are we drawn to competition? Is it the show? Is it the intensity? Is it amazement of the drive in the players? Is it the wanting to be part of a team or group? Is it the ability to yell and scream while releasing tension? Is it distraction from the daily grind? I believe it’s all of the above and more. How do we get more of this? I can tell you that outside of the military it’s been hard to find a “team” to recreate that intensity I had while I was in. The one place I find it... fitness. I can compete against myself or in a group. Coming together in one common goal, self betterment and pushing the envelope. Get up, find a group to join and become part of your own team. Four ingredients working really hard to make this epic dish! Those char-marks though 😍🙌🏼 Here’s how to make it... Chop up 250g of sweet potato into rough chunks. In a large bowl, melt 10g coconut oil. Throw in the sweet potatoes, toss in the oil, and season! Spread onto a baking sheet and roast at 180C until golden, adding 100g curly kale to the oven 5 minutes before the end to wilt! While the veggies are in the oven, let’s cook the chicken! Butterfly a 200g chicken breast, this makes it nice flat it’ll cook quickly and evenly. Alternatively, if you don’t have the knife skills, you can bash it between two layers of cling film. Season and place in a smoking hot griddle pan until charred (don’t be tempted to turn the chicken too early... it will stick to the pan and won’t have those nice lines) and just cooked through! Pile it up and dig in! 🙌🏼
